Terms of Service

Last updated: 3 August 2026 · Operated by [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME], [ADDRESS] ("we", "us"). Contact: info@vinapi.app

1. The service

vinapi.app provides an HTTP API and web dashboard that decodes Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) into structured vehicle data (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the API you agree to these terms.

2. Accounts and API keys

You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials and API keys confidential. API keys are shown once at creation and stored by us only as cryptographic hashes; you are responsible for all requests made with your keys. Revoke a key immediately from the dashboard if you suspect it has been exposed.

3. Plans, quotas and billing

The Service is offered in the plans described on the pricing page, each with a monthly request quota and a per-minute rate limit. Paid plans are invoiced monthly by email; invoices are payable within [PAYMENT TERM, e.g. 14 DAYS]. You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time by contacting us; changes take effect from the date we confirm them, and cancellation stops charges at the end of the current billing period.

Requests beyond your quota or rate limit are rejected with an error and are not billed. Quotas reset on the first day of each calendar month (UTC).

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for unlawful purposes, including unlawful tracking or profiling of individuals;
  • attempt to circumvent authentication, quotas or rate limits;
  • resell or redistribute the API itself without our written consent;
  • probe, scan or disrupt the Service's infrastructure.

We may suspend or terminate access that violates these rules.

5. Data accuracy — no warranty

Decode results are derived from the VIN's structure and from third-party and public data sources (including the U.S. NHTSA vPIC database). Coverage and accuracy vary by manufacturer and market; some fields may be missing or incorrect. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Do not rely on it as the sole source for safety-critical, legal or purchase decisions — verify against official sources.

6. Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service on self-serve plans, and no service-level agreement applies unless separately agreed in writing.

7. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may terminate or suspend accounts for breach of these terms with reasonable notice where practicable. Sections 5 and 7 survive termination.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced by email or in the dashboard at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION]; exclusive venue is [VENUE], to the extent permitted by applicable consumer law.
